Research Participation Opportunity for Pre-service Teachers: What are your ABCs? | Posted: March 25, 2024
We invite you to participate in a research study exploring pre-service teachers' attitudes, beliefs, and concerns regarding the education of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) students.
This study, conducted by Jerry Gan, a Master thesis student in Special Education at the University of Alberta, aims to gather valuable insights from future educators like you to enhance our understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced in meeting the needs of diverse student populations.
Your insights hold the key to unlocking a more equitable and inclusive future in education. By sharing your experiences and perspectives through an anonymous online survey (taking only 15-20 minutes of your time), you'll contribute to a deeper understanding of the needs and education of culturally and linguistically diverse students. Your participation could pave the way for innovative strategies and approaches in inclusive education classrooms as well as in teacher education programs, ensuring that future educators are better equipped to create inclusive learning environments.
To participate, please access the survey through the following link: https://ualbertauw.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_a4YmDgxFRoK3338
Your participation is entirely voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time without any consequences. The study has received ethics approval from the University of Alberta (Ethics ID: Pro00139901).
Please feel free to reach out to Jerry Gan at jerry.gan@ualberta.ca if you have any questions or require further information

Participants needed for a National Survey | Posted: June 12, 2023
My name is Dawn Sutherland and I am a Professor in the Faculty of Education, University of Manitoba. I am currently conducting a research study that is exploring the protective factors involved in completing a bachelor of education degree during and after a pandemic and how the pandemic impacted the stress level of students in the last month of their program and their self-efficacy in teaching.
I am particularly interested in Canadian education students who:
Are in an after-degree bachelor of education program (sometimes referred to as consecutive) and
Are in their graduating year of education.
In Spring 2023 a secure Qualtrics survey will be made public and I am asking students in education to participate. The questionnaire is completely voluntary and anonymous. Completing the questionnaire will only take 15 minutes. All responses from completed questionnaires will be collated and entered into SPSS where they will be analyzed.
Using your computer or phone please go to the following untrackable, anonymous Qualtrics link where a full description of the research project is provided.
https://survey.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ba2Wy5X0Y8Gsml8
You will be asked to provide your consent after having read the description and then asked to complete the demographic, teacher self-efficacy and stress related questions. You can quit the questionnaire at any time, incomplete questionnaires will not be used in the final analysis. If you have any questions about this research prior to participating you are free to contact me at dawn.sutherland@umanitoba.ca at any time.
This research has been approved by the Research Ethics Board at the University of Manitoba, Fort Garry Campus and the Survey Review Committee. As well, this project has received secondary review from your institution. If you have any concerns or complaints about this project you may contact any of the above-named persons or the Human Ethics Coordinator at 204-474-7122 or humanethics@umanitoba.ca . A copy of the consent form with contact information is available for you to download from this Qualtrics site.
